Lavrov: Venezuela's sovereignty must be respected

The Russian Foreign Ministry, led by Sergei Lavrov, has expressed support for the appointment of Delca Rodriguez as interim President of Venezuela.

This comes after former President Nicolás Maduro was detained by US special forces and is facing narcoterrorism charges in New York.

Moscow described the appointment of Rodriguez as a move to protect Venezuela's sovereignty and national interests.

At the same time, the ministry stressed that the fate of the country should be decided solely by Venezuelans without foreign interference.
