Tenor Bocelli to sing at Winter Olympics opening ceremony
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will be among the stars at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Cortina, organizers announced on Sunday.
Bocelli, who also performed at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, will be "one of the most iconic moments of the event," according to a statement.
"His presence represents a natural bridge between music and sport (...) it is an opportunity to commemorate the Games through Italy's musical heritage, which is known and appreciated throughout the world," the document reads.
The opening ceremony—at Milan's San Siro Stadium on February 6—will be created and produced by Balich Wonder Studio and will feature international artists along with elements celebrating Italian culture and innovation.
American singer Mariah Carey will be the first major music star of the event. The star-studded lineup will also include Italian singer-songwriter Laura Pausini, one of the country's most internationally acclaimed artists.
