AI, inflation, and climate change are the risks of 2026 according to the World Economic Forum

A report by the World Economic Forum warns that the world is entering an "era of competition" dominated by fragmentation, tension, and the decline of multilateralism, according to the World Economic Forum report.

According to leaders, the greatest risk in 2026 is geo-economic confrontation, which could escalate into economic wars and threaten global supply and trade.

The top five risks also include disinformation, social polarization, extreme weather, and inflation. However, the long-term outlook points to the dominance of environmental threats—biodiversity loss, climate change, and ecological collapse.

The report also highlights the growing risks of uncontrolled technological development, particularly artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

According to the survey, the political environment is becoming increasingly fragmented, with only six percent of respondents believing in a return to international order.

The forum also calls for a renewal of the "spirit of dialogue" as the key to mitigating risks and overcoming global challenges.
