Israel wants a new agreement with the US, considers fewer American subsidies
Israel is preparing for negotiations on a new ten-year security agreement with the US. Although the country wants to maintain US military support, it is indicating its intention to gradually reduce its financial dependence.
According to Gil Pinchas, the outgoing financial advisor to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Israel will prioritize joint defense projects over direct financial aid.
The current agreement, which is valid until 2028, guarantees Israel $38 billion, including $3.3 billion annually for the purchase of US weapons.
Pinchas described the partnership as more valuable than "free money" and claims that such funding may decline in the future.
Similarly, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed hope that the country would manage the transition to a more independent model of security cooperation with the US.
