EU preparing 20th package of sanctions against Russia, says von der Leyen
The European Union has confirmed that its support for Ukraine remains unwavering ahead of the next round of peace talks. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the statement after a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ahead of the planned meeting in Abu Dhabi, Anadolu Agency reports.
According to her, the EU continues to provide practical assistance to Kyiv, including the delivery of hundreds of generators to provide heat and electricity. Von der Leyen also noted that the Union has proposed a loan of €90 billion for the next two years and is working with the US to create a unified prosperity framework with Ukraine.
She also announced that the EU will soon present its 20th package of sanctions against Russia. The aim is to increase pressure on Moscow to enter into negotiations with a sincere interest in peace.
Zelensky confirmed that new negotiations between Russia, the US, and Ukraine will take place on February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi.
