The second round of negotiations between Ukraine, Russia, and the US has begun in Abu Dhabi

On Wednesday, the second round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the US began in Abu Dhabi, aimed at advancing negotiations to end the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II.

The two-day talks come after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Russia had exploited the recent US-backed energy truce to replenish its ammunition stocks. Kyiv claims that Moscow then launched a record number of ballistic missiles on Tuesday.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, the Ukrainian delegation has already arrived in Abu Dhabi and begun initial talks.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Russian troops would continue fighting in Ukraine until Kyiv made "decisions" that could lead to an end to the war.

Over the past year, the administration of US President Donald Trump has been trying to pressure both Kyiv and Moscow to find a compromise, but no agreement has been reached yet.

The most sensitive issues are Russia's demands that Ukraine cede part of the territory it still controls and the question of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

Moscow wants the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire Donetsk region as a condition for an agreement, which Kyiv rejects and insists on freezing the conflict at the current front line. Russia currently occupies about 20 percent of Ukraine's territory.
