The Kremlin denies claims that Epstein worked for Russian intelligence services
The Kremlin has strongly rejected claims that the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein worked as an agent for the Russian intelligence service.
President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to questions from Reuters with irony, stating that Moscow had no reason to waste time commenting on unfounded speculation.
The response came after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced his intention to investigate Epstein's possible ties to Russia and their potential impact on Poland. However, he did not provide any concrete evidence.
In recent days, Western media have speculated whether Epstein was collecting compromising material for a foreign intelligence service. Russian officials claim that these allegations are intended to divert attention from the scale of the scandal, which they say exposes the hypocrisy of influential circles in the US and Europe.
Although US Department of Justice documents repeatedly mention Russia and refer to women from Russia in Epstein's circle, there is no evidence of espionage.
Similar allegations have also been made in connection with Mossad and the CIA.
