The US has announced new sanctions against Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi described the negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear program, which took place in Oman, as a good start. According to him, there is agreement on continuing the dialogue, with both sides to agree on the next steps after consultations in their capitals.

The talks were held indirectly through Oman at a time of growing concerns that their failure could lead to further conflict in the Middle East. Iran insists that it will discuss only the nuclear issue and refuses to negotiate on ballistic missiles or regional influence, which Washington wants to include in the process.

Tehran also demands recognition of its right to enrich uranium and the lifting of sanctions. The US considers enrichment on Iranian territory a red line.

Subsequently, the US announced new sanctions targeting Iranian oil exports, including penalties for tankers. World powers warn that the collapse of the negotiations could lead to another war in a strategically sensitive region.
