Lavrov: US backs down from proposals to resolve conflict in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his dissatisfaction with the United States' approach to resolving the war in Ukraine in an interview with BRICS TV on Monday. According to TASS, he claims that Washington is no longer willing to accept the proposals it itself put forward at last year's talks in Alaska.
Lavrov noted that Russia had accepted these proposals. No official records of the talks between the Russian and American presidents have ever been released, and it is unclear what exactly the proposals contained.
He also criticized the United States in the area of economic cooperation. According to him, Moscow sees no prospect of improving economic relations due to tariffs, sanctions, and bans that Russia must take into account.
"The Americans want to take control of all energy supply routes to all leading countries on all continents. On the European continent, they are focusing on the Nord Stream gas pipeline, the Ukrainian gas transportation system, and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline," Lavrov said.
