For the first time in a decade, Cuba has been left without oil supplies

For the first time since 2015, Cuba found itself in a situation where it did not import a single barrel of oil for an entire month. Mexico's decision to suspend all fuel supplies dealt another blow to the island's economy, which has long struggled with energy shortages.

Mexico became a key supplier after the administration of US President Donald Trump increased pressure on Venezuela and suspended its fuel exports to Cuba.

According to Bloomberg, Mexican oil helped cover about a month's worth of gasoline consumption.

However, President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that supplies have been suspended due to the threat of US tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba. The situation has been exacerbated by the US naval blockade targeting the so-called dark fleet.

In Havana, queues at gas stations are getting longer, hotels are closing, and airlines are unable to refuel.
