After tension and sacrifices, Trump halts raids against migrants in Minnesota

The administration of US President Donald Trump will end a large-scale deportation operation in Minnesota. This was announced by Tom Homan, the president's advisor on border issues, who said that immigration police agents are already being withdrawn in significant numbers.

Approximately 3,000 armed officers were deployed to the state as part of Operation Metro Surge, sparking mass protests in Minneapolis and criticism from local leaders. The situation was further exacerbated by two fatal shootings in which American citizens were killed.

Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey called the operation disastrous and turned to the courts. At the same time, a federal judge reprimanded immigration authorities for violating dozens of orders to release wrongfully detained migrants.

Criticism also came from Republicans. Senator Rand Paul pointed out that even during riots, constitutional rights cannot be circumvented.

According to Homan, the administration is now relying on closer coordination with local security forces.
