Ukrainian parliament cancels session due to MPs feeling unwell
The plenary session of the Ukrainian Supreme Council had to be canceled on Thursday after several MPs fell ill. According to sources for Ukrayinska Pravda, approximately 10 to 30 lawmakers had health problems, reports New Voice of Ukraine.
They experienced high fevers, weakness, digestive problems, and diarrhea. The cause is not yet clear—there is talk of food poisoning from the parliamentary cafeteria, but not all of those who fell ill had eaten there. There has also been speculation about a rotavirus infection, as similar cases have recently been reported in Kyiv and Bukovel.
MP Jaroslav Železniak said that due to a lack of votes, parliament was unable to discuss any items on the agenda and ended the session without result.
According to him, it is "more of a food crisis than a parliamentary crisis." He also pointed out that some MPs were away on business trips. The next vote will take place during the next plenary week, which begins on February 24.
