Trump promises financial injection for the UN, talks about its potential

President Donald Trump announced that the United States will provide financial resources to the United Nations in order to strengthen its functioning and ensure its long-term viability. He made the announcement at the inaugural meeting of his Peace Council in Washington.

According to him, the UN has "great potential" that has not yet been fully exploited.

Although the US is the largest contributor to the organization's budget, there has been a significant reduction in payments during the Trump administration—Washington has refused to pay mandatory contributions to the regular budget and peacekeeping missions, while also reducing voluntary funding for several agencies.

Trump also emphasized the need for investment in UN infrastructure and assured that the United States would help the organization build a stronger foundation.
