IAEA claims to have negotiated local ceasefire in Ukraine

The International Atomic Energy Agency announced on Friday that it had negotiated a temporary local ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, which will allow the restoration of backup power to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

"The fifth local ceasefire negotiated by the International Atomic Energy Agency between Ukraine and the Russian Federation came into effect today," said Rafael Grossi, Director General of the agency, in a statement.

"The IAEA has previously brokered four temporary ceasefire agreements, which have enabled five separate repairs to the power line connected to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant," Grossi added.
