Hormuz Crisis Deepens as Iran Threatens US Bases
The crisis around the Strait of Hormuz is intensifying, with Iran warning it will target US bases and warships in the region if Washington resumes attacks or attempts to reopen the waterway by force.
The closure of the strait, a key route for global oil and gas shipments, has already driven energy prices higher and raised concerns about a global economic slowdown. US President Donald Trump is weighing several options, including further military strikes, maintaining the blockade or establishing a Maritime Freedom Coalition.
France and Britain have signaled a willingness to assist once the conflict ends. At the same time, Tehran has dismissed expectations of a rapid agreement and appears capable of sustaining the current stalemate for now.
The UN has warned that a prolonged shutdown could fuel inflation and push millions of people into poverty.
