Fico Speaks With Zelensky, Will Visit Him in Kyiv
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on social media that he had spoken on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two leaders agreed on the need to maintain good and friendly relations between Slovakia and Ukraine.
Although they acknowledged their different positions on some issues, according to the available information, they want to continue dialogue and cooperation.
Fico also confirmed Slovakia's support for Ukraine's ambitions to join the European Union. He stressed that a stable and democratic Ukraine was in Slovakia's interest as a neighboring country.
The two politicians agreed to meet in person during the European political community summit in Yerevan. They also intend to continue the format of joint governmental negotiations and to carry out mutual visits.
"We agreed to meet briefly on Monday in Yerevan at the EPC summit and to continue the format of joint governments, while visiting each other's capitals", Fico said.
Fico also stressed that a possible peace agreement with Russia cannot be reached without Ukraine's consent.
