Zelensky Calls for United European Voice in Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that Europe should speak with one voice and have a place in peace negotiations to end the war. He made the remarks in an address to an international summit in Yerevan, Armenia.

He said Kyiv was in contact with the United States and was aware of its positions, but stressed that it was also important to create a common European voice. A workable diplomatic format was needed in which Europe had its place, he said.

Zelensky also reiterated his call for more support for Ukraine, including through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism. He said the country needed new aid packages to defend itself against Russian ballistic attacks.

The president also reported on his talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. On the sidelines of the summit, they agreed to continue work on a drone agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

According to Zelensky, the two sides reviewed details of the planned security cooperation aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the ongoing conflict.
