French Startup Unveils New Dexterous Industrial Robot

French startup Genesis AI has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model, GENE-26.5, designed to make robots more adaptable in industrial environments. Alongside it, the company demonstrated a robotic arm modelled on human anatomy, capable of performing delicate tasks such as slicing tomatoes or solving a Rubik's cube.

Founded early last year, the company has already raised $105m and counts Eric Schmidt and Xavier Niel among its backers. Its technology is designed to work across different types of robots, including devices from other manufacturers.

Genesis AI is focused primarily on the European market, where it sees a strong talent base and a broad pool of industrial customers. It is in talks with companies in France, Germany and Italy and is targeting sectors including automotive, logistics and pharmaceuticals.

The development comes as Europe seeks to reindustrialize and reduce its dependence on Asia. Growing demand for robotics is reflected in companies such as Schaeffler, which expects a significant increase in orders. Genesis AI is also collecting data from real-world environments using sensor gloves to improve its robots' ability to replicate human movements.
