Car Rams Crowd in Central Modena; Driver Stabs Bystander

Eight people were injured after a car ploughed into pedestrians in the center of Modena in northern Italy on Saturday before crashing into a shop window. A male bystander who tried to stop the driver was subsequently stabbed by the attacker.

The exact number of injured and the severity of their injuries have not yet been made public. Police are investigating whether the incident was a targeted attack or the result of other circumstances. The driver was arrested shortly after the incident.

Police, paramedics and firefighters attended the scene, which caused chaos and panic among witnesses in a busy part of the city center.
