Ukraine Hits Moscow Region as Zelensky Cites Retaliation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed a Ukrainian drone strike on the Moscow region, describing it as a justified response to ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian targets.

Zelensky stressed that Moscow has one of the strongest air defense systems in the country but that Ukrainian drones had nonetheless managed to penetrate it. He also noted that the strike was carried out more than 500 km from the Ukrainian border, which he said demonstrated Kyiv's ability to hit strategic targets deep inside Russian territory.

In a message directed at Moscow, Zelensky said the only way to stop such attacks was for Russia to end the war.
