Russia Reports Ukrainian Strike on Zaporizhzhia

The management of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is under Russian occupation, said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had shelled part of the site for a second consecutive day without disrupting operations.

According to Russian-controlled management, a Ukrainian drone landed near the plant's reactor units but did not explode. The incident caused no injuries. Damage was limited to the roof of a workshop, buses used to transport employees and windows in a nearby telecommunications building.

Russian forces occupied the Zaporizhzhia plant, the largest in Europe with six reactors, in February 2022. Both sides regularly accuse each other of military actions that threaten nuclear security. The plant is not currently generating electricity but must continue to operate in order to keep nuclear fuel cool.
