Pope Warns Against AI That Ignores Human Dignity
Pope Leo XIV called on Catholics and the media to protect the truth about human beings in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and to preserve "human voices and faces" in communication. Speaking after the Regina Caeli prayer at the Vatican, he warned that technological advances must remain focused on the dignity of the human person, EWTN News reports.
The Vatican is also preparing a new encyclical on the ethical implications of AI and its impact on society.
The Pope also marked the start of Laudato Si' Week, which follows the ecological message established by Pope Francis, stressing the need for care for creation, peace and responsibility towards a world affected by war.
In his catechesis, Leo XIV addressed the Feast of the Ascension and spoke of Christian hope, union with Christ and the human journey towards God. He also recalled the importance of what he called "the saints next door", describing them as ordinary people who live the Gospel in their daily lives.
