Trump Says He Was Minutes Away from New Iran Attack
US President Donald Trump has said that the United States may attack Iran again if a new agreement to end the conflict cannot be reached. He said he was just an hour away from deciding to launch another strike, but ultimately postponed it after Tehran submitted a new peace proposal.
Trump told reporters at the White House that Iran was “begging for a deal”, but also warned that new US strikes could come within days. He stressed that the US cannot allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Tehran is proposing an end to fighting on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as the withdrawal of US forces from areas near Iran or the payment of reparations for damage caused during the war. Iran is also demanding the lifting of sanctions and the release of frozen funds.
