Moscow Accuses Baltics of Aiding Ukraine

Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, accused Ukraine of preparing drone attacks from Latvia and other Baltic states, warning that NATO membership would not shield those countries from possible Russian retaliation.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, Nebenzia claimed that Kyiv had already relocated Ukrainian drone units to Latvian territory. He did not provide evidence to support the allegation.

Latvia’s ambassador to the UN, Sanita Pavluta-Deslandes, rejected the claims as “pure fiction”.

The United States also responded sharply. Deputy US Ambassador to the UN Tammy Bruce said the Security Council was not a platform for threatening member states.

She added that Washington remains fully committed to its obligations within NATO.
