Russian Strike Destroys $1m in UN Humanitarian Aid in Dnipro

The UN refugee agency has announced the loss of approximately $1m worth of humanitarian aid after a Russian missile attack struck a warehouse in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

The warehouse, hit on Wednesday, contained emergency shelter equipment, sleeping mats and hygiene kits intended for displaced people and residents of areas near the front line. Two people were killed in the attack.

UNHCR representative in Ukraine Bernadette Castel-Hollingworth said it was the first time one of the agency's facilities had been struck. She added that the aid had been intended for regions where evacuations and forced population movements were ongoing.

UNHCR also warned that the attack was part of a broader pattern of strikes on humanitarian convoys. Last week, drones hit two prominently marked UN convoys in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions.
