School Bus Crash in Belgium Leaves Several Dead

A train collided with a school bus on Tuesday morning in the Belgian town of Buggenhout, leaving several people dead, according to a Reuters source.

The crash occurred at a level crossing about one kilometer from Buggenhout station. Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin said on X that he had received news of the tragedy “with deep sorrow”, but did not provide further details.

Belgian police did not immediately comment on the accident.

Belgium’s dense rail network has long faced safety concerns at level crossings. Rail infrastructure operator Infrabel said similar accidents claimed five lives in 2025, the lowest annual figure since 2020.
