Israel Expands Military Operations in Lebanon and Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the expansion of military operations on two fronts. He said the Israeli army has crossed the Litani river in Lebanon and is continuing operations against Hezbollah, including in areas near Beirut and in the Bekaa Valley.
Netanyahu also outlined plans to increase the area under Israeli control in the Gaza Strip to approximately 70% of its total land area. Hamas strongly rejected the move, describing it as an illegitimate attempt to further displace Palestinians from their homes.
Despite a ceasefire that has been in force for more than eight months, the fundamental issues of the conflict remain unresolved. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is critical, according to local residents, and further restrictions on civilian movement have raised fears of a deepening crisis.
