Helsinki and Riga to Host 2030 Ice Hockey World Championship
Helsinki and Riga will jointly host the 2030 Ice Hockey World Championship, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced on Friday. The host cities were decided at the IIHF's annual congress in Zurich, which is itself hosting the 2026 World Championship.
The Finnish-Latvian tournament follows the 2029 World Championship, which will be jointly staged in Bratislava and Košice.
It will be the eighth time Helsinki has hosted the event. The Finnish capital last held the championship in 2022, together with Tampere. For Riga, it will be the fourth time as host city. Latvia's capital previously staged the tournament in 2021 and 2023.
The IIHF Congress also awarded the 2028 Women's World Championship to Switzerland, with the host city yet to be determined.
