Pentagon: Iran Military Strikes Still an Option if Diplomacy Fails
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said the United States remains prepared to resume military strikes against Iran if diplomatic negotiations fail to produce a result. His remarks came at the Shangri-La Dialogue forum in Singapore, as Washington and Tehran seek a path to a deal on Iran's nuclear program.
Hegseth stressed that the US possesses sufficient military capabilities to act against Iran while maintaining its commitments in the Asia-Pacific region. He added that the US is significantly expanding munitions production and investing in its defense industry.
President Trump, Hegseth said, continues to favor a deal that would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while keeping military options on the table.
