Iran Targets Bahrain and Kuwait as Missiles Fail

Iran has fired missiles and launched drones at several US-linked targets in the region, but all the attacks failed or were intercepted by air defenses, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

Two missiles aimed at Kuwait did not reach their targets, while three missiles headed for Bahrain were shot down. US forces also destroyed Iranian drones that were intended to strike civilian ships and military targets.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the missile and drone attacks were retaliation for what it described as a US strike on a communications tower south of Qeshm Island.

The conflict, which began at the end of February, has continued despite diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran. The talks have so far produced no significant progress towards a lasting ceasefire.

The latest wave of attacks has raised fresh concerns about the safety of shipping in the region and helped push oil prices higher on world markets.
