US Imposes New Sanctions Targeting Iran Oil Shipments
The United States on Friday announced new sanctions targeting companies, individuals and tankers involved in transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) linked to Iran.
The US Treasury Department added 12 entities to the sanctions list: five based in the Marshall Islands, four in the United Arab Emirates and one in China. Six vessels were also affected, including four Panama-flagged tankers.
Washington is also preparing a draft resolution against Iran for next week's meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors. Diplomats say the resolution could call on Tehran to cooperate more fully with nuclear inspectors, though it may also complicate ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran over its nuclear program.
