Iran Announces an End to Attacks on Israel

Iran announced that it would halt attacks on Israel after US President Donald Trump called on both sides to cease fire immediately.

The announcement came after the two countries exchanged attacks for the first time since the ceasefire reached earlier this year, raising fears of a renewed escalation in the broader regional conflict.

“Israel and Iran must immediately stop shooting”, he said in a brief post on his social media platform Truth Social.

In recent days, the US president has sought to persuade Israel to halt military operations in Lebanon in an effort to create space for a wider agreement aimed at ending tensions with Iran. Despite those efforts, the Israeli military carried out strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs on Sunday, reportedly disregarding Trump's appeal.
