Zelensky Says US and Kremlin Outreach Paid Off

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his recent diplomatic efforts had produced tangible results.

Speaking at a summit in Tallinn, Zelensky said he had sent several letters over the past month to the European Union, the United States and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Each had a different objective and some had achieved the outcomes Kyiv was seeking, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

In his outreach to Washington, Zelensky sought to persuade US officials to maintain focus on Ukraine alongside the crisis in the Middle East.

He suggested progress had been made on air defense support but did not provide specific details. He was similarly guarded when discussing his letter to Putin, saying only that it had achieved the result he wanted.

According to Zelensky, the letter sent to the Kremlin in early June was intended to provoke a response and raise the possibility of a meeting between the two leaders. While Moscow replied, Putin later rejected the idea of a face-to-face meeting.
