Iran Hits US Bases After Hormuz Strikes

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards attacked a US base in Jordan and 21 other targets in Gulf states on Wednesday in retaliation for US strikes in the Strait of Hormuz region, according to state media.

Washington had earlier announced attacks on Iranian radar and anti-aircraft systems after a US Apache helicopter was reported to have been shot down. The Revolutionary Guards said they had hit F-35 fighter jet hangars and command centers and threatened further escalation.

Tehran also claimed to have targeted the al-Azraq base in Jordan with missiles, as well as US facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. Jordan reported intercepting several missiles in the air, while Bahrain and Kuwait activated air defenses.

According to initial US assessments, most of the Iranian missiles and drones were intercepted, and there were no reports of casualties among US troops.

Oil prices rose by around 1% after the escalation.
