Russian Colonel Killed in Car Bombing Near Moscow

Colonel Damir Davydov, a Russian officer responsible for artillery and rocket ammunition supplies, was killed in a car explosion near Moscow on Tuesday morning.

The blast occurred in the city of Balashikha as Davydov was walking near his home.

According to media reports, an explosive device had been placed under a BMW. Security camera footage showed the vehicle erupting in flames before crashing into a parked car.

Passers-by reportedly tried to pull the driver from the wreckage, but he later died from his injuries.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting Russian military officials and prominent supporters of the war since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Neither Moscow nor Kyiv has commented on the explosion.

Russian lawmaker and former general Vladimir Shamanov condemned the killing as an “outrageous act” and called for a response.

The attack has renewed questions about the ability of Russia’s security services to protect senior officials. It occurred not far from the location where General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a similar explosion just over a year ago.
