Ukraine Targets Russia’s Lifeline to Crimea
Ukraine plans to intensify drone strikes on occupied territory in an effort to isolate Crimea and disrupt Russian military supply lines, according to Robert Brovdi, Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces.
Brovdi said the campaign is already affecting the Novorossiya Highway, one of the main routes linking Russia to Crimea through occupied southern Ukraine. According to his assessment, traffic along the corridor has fallen by more than two-thirds over the past month.
The drone campaign targets military logistics, oil infrastructure, air-defense systems, and weapons-production facilities. Brovdi said the goal is to increase the cost of continuing the war and force Russia to divert resources away from the front lines.
Ukraine’s drone forces claim to have destroyed 174 air defense systems during the first five months of the year. The figures could not be independently verified.
Military analysts say advances in drone technology are making it increasingly difficult for Russia to secure supply routes and maintain control over occupied territories, including Crimea.
