Brussels Offers Farmers €540m Fertilizer Aid
The European Commission has proposed a €540m financial aid package for farmers affected by soaring fertilizer prices resulting from the war with Iran.
Agriculture and Food Commissioner Christophe Hansen said the proposal was intended to help farmers cope with rising input costs. Member states will be able to supplement the EU funds with their own resources, which the Commission said could bring total support to as much as €1.5bn.
The measure aims to mitigate the impact of rising prices on farmers across EU member states.
