Israel Strikes Beirut After Hezbollah Ceasefire Breach

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have risen again following mutual attacks along the Lebanese-Israeli border. The Israeli army reported that Hezbollah fired three projectiles into northern Israel in what it described as a clear violation of the ceasefire.

In response, the Israeli air force struck Hezbollah targets in the Dahiyeh neighborhood in Beirut's southern suburbs, long considered a Hezbollah stronghold. Lebanese security sources said the strike was probably a targeted attack involving two rockets.

While Hezbollah has not confirmed the Israeli strike, it has acknowledged rocket and drone attacks against Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

The escalation comes as Washington and Tehran negotiate a deal that could end the wider regional conflict. Iran has made any settlement conditional on a halt to the fighting in Lebanon.
