G7 Unites on Ukraine as Trump Declares "I'm the Boss"

G7 leaders meeting in Évian-les-Bains, France, have agreed to continue supporting Ukraine, including its territorial integrity, and to tighten sanctions against Russia. The joint statement signals a strengthening of Kyiv's position ahead of potential peace talks with Moscow.

During the talks, US President Donald Trump lightheartedly remarked that he was "the boss", while several leaders pointed to Washington's toughening stance toward Russia. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the United States now views the battlefield situation more realistically.

Summit participants also welcomed the preliminary agreement between the US and Iran and declared their readiness to participate in its implementation. They also said they aim to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz by diversifying energy routes and building up reserves.

Trump cautioned, however, that the memorandum with Tehran is not yet final and said the United States could resume military operations if the agreement were not honored.

The leaders also addressed strategic raw materials, trade imbalances and the West's growing dependence on China. Artificial intelligence was also on the agenda, including questions of accountability for digital tools and the spread of accurate or misleading information.
