Trump Tells Netanyahu to Show More Restraint in Lebanon

At the conclusion of the G7 summit in France, US President Donald Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could use a "softer touch" in Lebanon.

The two leaders have repeatedly clashed over Israel's refusal to curb its operations against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. Ending these hostilities is a key demand of Iran.

"Netanyahu happens to be a good man, gets a little excited sometimes", Trump told reporters, adding that there is a minor disagreement between them over Lebanon.

Trump said the Israeli prime minister could be more restrained in the conflict, remarking that Israel does not have to demolish an entire building every time someone from Hezbollah enters it. He also said he agrees with the characterization of Israel as a "very small partner" of the US.
