Brezhnev's Great-Grandson Taken Prisoner by Ukraine
The great-grandson of former Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev has been taken prisoner by Ukraine, according to Russian media reports. Anton Milayev, who was raised by Brezhnev's daughter Galina as her own grandson, reportedly enlisted in the Russian army last autumn to serve as a sapper, according to the Baza news website.
The family lost contact with him after he stopped communicating following his deployment to the front. His mother, Irina Kuznetsova, has since reported that he is being held in territory controlled by Ukrainian forces in the Kherson region.
The case carries symbolic weight. Brezhnev was one of the most prominent leaders of the Soviet Union, and a significant part of his political career was linked to Ukraine.
