Russian Drone Attack on Black Sea Ships Kills One Sailor
Russian drones have attacked two civilian vessels in the Black Sea, killing one crew member and injuring several others, according to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba.
“One crew member of a ship sailing under the Panamanian flag was killed as a result of a Russian drone attack on civilian vessels in the Black Sea”, Kuleba said.
He added that two other sailors aboard the vessel were injured, one of them critically.
A second ship, sailing under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, was also hit. Three crew members suffered minor injuries.
Kuleba said the incident was further evidence that Russia is waging what he described as an open campaign against freedom of navigation, international trade and global food security.
Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, later said that both vessels had resumed their voyages and that port infrastructure remained operational despite the security situation.
