Trump Heads to Camp David as Iran Talks Stall
US President Donald Trump will spend the weekend at the presidential retreat Camp David, where he will discuss political and strategic issues. This is only his second visit to the retreat since returning to office last year.
The trip comes as Washington tries to reach a final agreement to end the war with Iran. The situation has been complicated by the cancellation of planned US-Iran talks in Switzerland following the resumption of fighting in Lebanon, creating uncertainty about the next steps in negotiations that are also crucial for restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and stabilizing the region.
Trump last visited Camp David in June 2025, when he met with military and foreign policy advisers to discuss the protests in California, Iran and the war in the Gaza Strip. Unlike many of his predecessors, however, he usually spends his weekends at his private residences in Florida or New Jersey.
