Fico Determined to Maintain Dialogue with Putin
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he will continue to take every opportunity to communicate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the TASS news agency.
In a video address posted on social media, he said Slovakia stands in solidarity with Russia amid ongoing tensions between Russia and the West.
He added that he remains in contact with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, even though the two leaders fundamentally disagree on many issues. According to Fico, it is important to talk to all relevant partners regardless of differing positions.
The prime minister also reiterated that Slovakia wants to remain a peaceful country that respects international law and seeks fair relations with states that treat Bratislava in the same manner.
He further criticized the European Union, accusing it of applying double standards in assessing certain international issues.
