Russia and Ukraine Exchanged 160 Prisoners of War Each
Ukraine and Russia carried out another mutual exchange of prisoners of war, in which 160 soldiers from each side returned home.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that all the Ukrainian soldiers had been held captive by Russia since 2022, according to the UNIAN news agency.
Among those released are members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Border Guard Service and the State Special Transport Service. They fought on several fronts, including Mariupol and the Azovstal steelworks, as well as in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War stated that this is the 76th prisoner exchange since the start of the war. The released also include 115 defenders of Mariupol and 58 officers.
The youngest soldier released is 26 years old, and the oldest is 66. All will undergo medical examinations, treatment and rehabilitation, and will receive financial assistance and new identification documents.
In total, Ukraine has managed to return 9,606 soldiers and civilians from Russian captivity through the Coordination Headquarters since it began its operations.
