Austria Calls on EU to Court Anthropic After US Access Curbs

Austria has called on the European Union to review Anthropic's operations within its territory, in response to measures taken by the United States restricting foreign users' access to the most advanced artificial intelligence models.

In a letter to European Commission Executive Vice President Henna Virkkunen, Austrian State Secretary for Digitalization Alexander Pröll proposed that member states examine "the strategic establishment and participation of Anthropic within the European Union".

According to Austria, this would allow the EU to strengthen its position in artificial intelligence at a time when the United States is tightening access to the most advanced technologies for foreign users.
