Trump: America Will Never Be a Communist Country
On the eve of Independence Day, US President Donald Trump called on Americans to protect the freedoms established by the country's founders 250 years ago. In a speech at the Mount Rushmore Memorial, he labeled progressive Democrats a "communist menace" and warned against ideologies he said are at odds with the American way of life.
Trump also claimed that immigrants who, in his words, support such ideas pose a danger. He declared that the United States "will never be a communist country" and repeated his call to deport such people.
In recent days, Republicans have drawn attention to the successes of progressive candidates in Democratic primaries in New York, Colorado and other states. Trump has labeled them one of the greatest threats to the country and urged his supporters to help Republicans succeed in the November congressional elections.
On Saturday, the president will also speak in Washington ahead of Independence Day celebrations, which are taking place amid extreme heat in many parts of the United States.
