Ukrainian Woman Sought After Monaco Bomb Attack
Following a bomb attack on a Ukrainian businessman in Monaco, authorities issued an international arrest warrant for 39-year-old Ukrainian national Anastasia Berezovska. According to the Monegasque public prosecutor's office, as reported by the Swiss outlet Weltwoche, she planned the attack and planted the explosive device.
She is being investigated for attempted murder, causing an explosion and membership in a criminal organization. The suspect, who lived in Germany, traveled to the principality via Italy in a car bearing German license plates. At Monaco's request, German police have searched her apartment in the Main-Taunus district and seized the vehicle along with other evidence.
According to the prosecutor's office, the woman carefully monitored her target and disguised herself as a man during her reconnaissance. Immediately before the attack, she used surveillance cameras to confirm that the victims were present in front of the building, then detonated the device remotely. The explosion seriously injured three people. According to media reports, the target was Vadym Yermolayev, a Ukrainian businessman based in Cyprus. His son and partner were also injured. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the victims' identities.
Yermolayev was one of the wealthiest Ukrainians. In 2023, President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed sanctions on him over alleged tax evasion in Crimea, a charge the businessman denies. Investigators believe the woman being sought did not act alone. However, two men who were initially detained have been released due to a lack of evidence of direct involvement.
