Trump Says Iran Ceasefire Is Over as US Launches New Strikes

The United States launched another series of strikes on Iran on Wednesday, just hours after President Donald Trump said recent Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz had ended the ceasefire.

The previous day, the US military had struck several military sites and port facilities in response to Iranian attacks on commercial ships off the coast of Oman, according to AP News.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces, acting on orders from the commander-in-chief, launched additional strikes against Iran to “further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz”, CENTCOM said on X.

“The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway”, CENTCOM said.

Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations, including the port city of Bandar Abbas near the strait and Sirik, another southern coastal city.
