Israeli Elections Will Be Held in Late October
National elections in Israel are scheduled for 27 October, politicians from the current coalition announced. These will be the first elections since the Hamas attack in 2023 and the wars that subsequently broke out in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.
The exact date of the election had been unclear amid a dispute over a possible early dissolution of the Knesset.
Recent polls suggest that Netanyahu's coalition of nationalist and religious parties would lose the election.
It is rare in Israel for governments to complete their full four-year terms. Netanyahu is thus set to lead Israel's first government to serve a complete term since 1988.
